CIRL BUNTING
I have only got long distance shots of this gorgeous bird on treetops and telephone wires so far, but I was so excited to get them that I could not resist posting them. With its black eye stripe topped and bottomed with bright yellow bands and its pale-yellow undersides with a rusty red breast, this is a superb bird. It also has a grey rump patch and grey front of wings, which can be seen when it is flying.
This is another bird that likes to sing as far away from the photographer as possible, treetops being a favourite spot. Grasshoppers and similar insects are their favourite foods, but they will it seeds from the ground, when no one is around. Open ground with plenty of trees and high thick hedges are your best bets for spotting the cirl bunting.
