There are several hundred species of lizard and Kefalonia has 5 of them. From the diminutive Greek algyroides at 150mm to the dragon like Balkan green lizard topping 500mm in length. They are a photographer’s dream, as they bask in the sun before disappearing into the undergrowth as you approach. Generally, males have larger heads and usually a swollen tail base.
