BLACK HEADED BUNTING

This bird was very lost! It usually summers in southern Italy and Greece and winters in India. I heard in the tavern from Dean (The Warden), that this bird had been spotted on the main track just before Quarter Wall gate.

I was going peregrine watching the next morning and so I thought I would keep an eye out for it.

Early the next day, flask of black coffee tucked in my camera bag I headed towards Tibbets Point for my rendezvous with the peregrines.

The bunting was still near the gate, flitting from the track to the wall feeding on grass seeds.

A yellow chested bird with (funnily enough), a black head. It was not a bit shy, allowing me quite close for a few photos before I carried on to look for raptors.
