MEADOW PIPET

This little bird is sadly overlooked by most people, which is a shame because it has the most wonderful plumage.

It resembles a small song thrush with its grey, brown and white streaked plumage, it also has pink legs with a long hind claw (see photo on barbed wire).

They are abundant all over the island, but can be seen mainly on the plateau and the sidelands.

A few birds over winter on Lundy, but meadow pipits that breed on the island arrive in March. More migrants arrive in the August after the breeders have departed and can be seen until November.

In the Autumn it would be almost impossible to take a walk around the island and not see one.
